Long time no post! It has been a hot minute since I've had the chance to just sit down and work on a post, and my apologies for that! Since getting back from vacation it has been a non-stop battle to get everything in order before this coming semester and now finally I can start getting back to regular postings! So Happy New Year to you all and hope you have been having a magical start to your 2017! Here's to the first post of 2017!!
So any who, lets get started. I picked up the limited edition set from Ciate London in partner with Chloe Morello. A YouTube beauty guru who cultivated a set of her must haves from the brand. A $219 value selling for $49 you definitely get bang for your buck. And I got to say, I am loving it! I really love how sleek the packaging is for the palette and actually is slim and compact enough to throw into my purse for on the go.
The set contains a mini liquid velvet liquid lipstick in the shade Pin Up, which is a soft nude pink. I found it to have a little more of a more deeper red shade to it than nude or pink. Still very flattering for all skin types. Glides on nicely and it is moisturizing so you don't really need to worry about dry lips through the day. For me personally I found the formula to be a little to thick for my taste and had a little trouble with clumping. With a little love though it is easy to clean up!
Next you get a mini Wonderland Mascara in Black Magic. I'm a huge UD Perversion mascara junkie, but this one can hold its own! The wand is a nice size and the slight hourglass shape ensures you get every lash regardless of tube size. I do like being able to throw this in my makeup bag for when I'm on the go.
Of course you also get a eye shadow palette curated by Chloe Morello with 15 shades in matte and shimmers.
And last but not least a limited edition makeup pouch with the Ciate stamp on it in a navy blue and rose gold faux leather material. I am low key obsessed with this bag, it is one of those perfect size pouches to hold your toiletry and beauty essentials. I carry a decent sized purse, think Celine mini luggage totes, so its pretty roomy overall. The bag fits nicely within and I can sill fit a journal, my wallet, sunglasses, and other bits and bobs.
Lets break down the shadows. In the first picture of swatches from bottom to top:
+ Skinny Dip: light brown matte
+ Unconditional: fair terracotta matte
+ On Fire: burnt brown matte
+ Queen Bee: deep brown matte
+ Shine Bright: medium bronze shimmer
+ Vaycay: golden / wheat shimmer
+ My Tribe: white / beige matte
+ Be Sassy: soft pink matte (slight light purple hue)
+ Jet Setter: light rose matte (also has purple undertones)
+ Happy: deep taupe shimmer
+ Dainty: pale peach shimmer
+ Fierce: cranberry shimmer
+ Flirt: cranberry / grape matte
+ Day Dream: deep wine matte (purple base) (bottom color on second swatch picture)
+ Own It: purple shimmer (slight blue undertone) (top color on second swatch picture)
With 9 mattes and 5 shimmers you get a good mix of warm and cool toned shadows to play with. I found the shimmers a little stiff to work with but with some patting you can really build up a great amount of color. The mattes are creamy and build up and blend nicely on the lid. All colors have great wear time, with and without primer.
Overall the set is a great buy and great for gifts to others or yourself! A great palette size with plenty of variation and versatility, a good size liquid lipstick and mascara for those on the go touches, and a very handy and great sized make-up pouch it pays for itself. I do find myself grabbing it more than other palettes I own and make sure it is always in my top drawer for quick access!
